Faculty Network Mentoring Program

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty is committed to supporting faculty retention, scholarly productivity, excellence in teaching, and leadership development across the Tufts community. To advance these goals, we are pleased to announce the Faculty Network Mentoring Program, designed to center the unique experiences and needs of faculty as they build thriving academic careers.

What is Network Mentoring?

Network mentoring is a flexible, nontraditional approach that encourages faculty to cultivate a rich and varied network of mentors tailored to their unique professional and personal goals. These networks can include mentors from within and beyond Tufts, spanning various disciplines and career stages. This model recognizes that no single mentor can meet all of one faculty member’s needs—and, thus, that a robust mentoring network can provide comprehensive support for growth and success over time.

Program Overview

This year-long program fosters a collaborative and supportive environment wherein faculty mentor one another while also building their own mentoring networks. The program includes one introductory session for both cohorts followed by six separate cohort meetings between October and May.

The two cohorts will be:

  • Medford/Somerville (In-Person): For faculty from the School of Arts and Sciences, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Tisch College, and the Fletcher School.
  • Health Sciences Cohort (Remote): Co-sponsored by  the School of Medicine (TUSM)Office of Educational Affairs, this cohort is for faculty from TUSM, School of Dental Medicine, Friedman School of Nutrition, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

All participants will attend a joint inaugural session in October and receive up to $500 to support career development and mentoring activities. A final report will be required at the end of the program.
