About the Program

The Provost Catalyst Program is a faculty development program designed to support established, rising, and emerging leaders in the generation of novel scholarship. By providing resources and support, the program aims to catalyze growth through the creation of knowledge, solutions, technologies, and systems that drive change, solve pressing issues, and impact the world in a uniquely Tufts way.

Provost Catalyst Leaders

The Provost Catalyst Leaders cohort is composed of 6–10 faculty members per year with demonstrated records of developing transformative solutions to global challenges. Catalyst Leaders must have proven experience:

  • Sustaining a research program with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and translational research
  • Teaching both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Being an active, recognized leader nationally and internationally in their discipline
  • Identifying as a self-starter, innovator, and engaging relationship-builder

Support Provided to Catalyst Leaders

Catalyst Leaders receive a combination of funding, strategic and operational support from the Provost’s Office based on their specific needs and career stage for a defined period. Support may include:

  • Expanded publicity and networking opportunities
  • Resources for specialized services and research facilities
  • Funding and guidance on programming creation
  • Optimized staffing and infrastructure
  • Assistance with research and education strategy
  • Leadership development opportunities.
