Faculty holding nine-month appointments and those holding nine-month appointments paid over a twelve-month period are not entitled to vacation time with pay. Persons holding twelve-month appointments are entitled to one month of vacation leave (20 days) with pay each year. Effective 7/1/2010, full-time faculty with twelve-month appointments who have over 25 years of service are eligible for 5 weeks of vacation (25 days) with pay each year. Part-time employees receive prorated vacation time based on their regular work schedule.
Vacation leave may not be accumulated, nor may it be claimed as terminal leave after the effective date of the contract or resignation. Vacation time should be mutually agreed to with the Chair of the Department; in the absence of a Chair, with the School Dean. Tufts University has no obligation to assume responsibility for benefits lost through failure to apply for participation.
