Student Experience Working Group

Membership: The Student Experience working group was chaired by John Barker, Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Students in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. Detailed member information is listed below.

Guiding Questions:

• How can the time spent outside the classroom support our core goals—teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and impact on society?
• What are the best examples of co-curricular activities that support the core goals of the university? How can these examples be used to enhance co-curricular opportunities across the university?
• What are the most troubling aspects of student life outside of the classroom and how can students’ experiences with each of these be minimized?
• Are there capital needs that are critical to achieving success in this area?
• What should we stop doing, or start doing differently, if we aim to enhance the student experience?
• Note that this working group should review findings from the graduate education thematic working group, but focus most of its efforts on the undergraduate experience.
