Tufts University City of Boston Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)
This summer, Tufts has 19 PAID positions open on our Boston and Medford campuses, both easily accessible by public transit (MBTA Orange Line and Green Line, and several MBTA bus routes. Learn more about getting to Tufts via public transit).
Local youth (ages 15-18) will have the opportunity to gain firsthand work experience in higher education, including in Administration, Marketing, Community Engagement, Student Services, and Campus Operations.
Please note that applicants must be City of Boston residents.
Application Process - Applications are now CLOSED for Summer 2024
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
- All applicants must submit an online application to be considered for a position.
- On the application, you will rank the areas you are most interested in working in.
- A resume and cover letter are optional but strongly encouraged.
- Interviews for qualified applicants will be scheduled until all positions are filled.

- Paid employment for local youth ages 15-18.

- Hours/wages: Up to 25 hours/week at $15.00/hour; wages are paid every two weeks.
Job Opportunities
Join one of Tufts' schools and/or central administrative units this summer to learn about higher education administration and programming.
Depending on your interests and placement, you may help with:
- Communications: Answering phones, responding to email, greeting people
- Information technology: Maintaining systems and assisting help desk
- Data collection: Data entry and scanning and filing documents
- Marketing: Creating and distributing materials and help with promoting events
- Program Development: Assisting with program operations
Join one of Tufts' central units this summer to explore career opportunities in admissions, housing, daycare, or other customer and student services
Depending on your interests and assignment, you may support:
- Customer service
- Inventory management
- Housing services
- Recreation and sports activities
- Care and instruction for daycare center children
