Dual Career and Relocation Resources
Relocating for an academic job in a new city can bring real challenges, not only in searching for housing in a competitive real estate market but also in securing employment for a partner or spouse. To address these challenges, the Office of the Provost offers a variety of dual-career resources to help potential and current faculty looking to relocate with a spouse or partner. While Tufts cannot guarantee employment, we are committed to assisting in any way possible.
The Office of the Provost can assist with:
- Connecting with a dual-career counselor
- Exploring faculty and non-faculty employment at Tufts University
- Contacting potential employers at higher education institutions in the Boston metropolitan region
- Accessing resources that can aid in the home-buying or rental process
Dual-Career Counseling
Our dual-career counselor will help faculty and their partners access resources and provide a point of entry to possible internal and external employment. The counselor will meet with the couple to help determine an individualized plan that can best achieve their goals. Inside Higher Ed Careers has a handy Dual Career search feature on their website to search for jobs within a commutable distance to Tufts and surrounding areas. This is another tool to use to explore local opportunities for a partner.
Real Estate Advantage Program
Whether you’re relocating across the country or across town, the Real Estate Advantage Program provides you and your immediate family access to specialists who can connect you with local licensed real estate experts and service providers. Through a partnership between Tufts and Coldwell Banker Realty, this program offers a rebate of 15% of the commission on the home that you are buying or selling when you close with your assigned agent.
