Leading experts and industry players will unite to discuss the new developments, research, innovation, and policies shaping the future of cellular agriculture

Medford & Somerville, MA – Jan. 9-10, 2025 – Tufts University, a leader in researching and advancing the field of cellular agriculture, will host its third annual Cellular Agriculture Innovation Day on January 9 and 10, 2025 at the Joyce Cummings Center. This two-day event will showcase new developments in cellular agriculture and bring together influential leaders from startups, established companies, government entities, and academia. Speakers will discuss the latest research, emerging trends, and future trajectory of cellular agriculture.

“We’re looking forward to bringing experts in future foods and materials together at a pivotal time for the industry during our third annual Cellular Agriculture Innovation Day,” said David Kaplan, Stern Family Endowed Professor of Engineering at Tufts and director of the Tufts University Center for Cellular Agriculture (TUCCA). “The event has become a turning point each year that leaders in space look forward to. The research, developments, and implications discussed at this year’s event will be crucial for the continued advancement of the industry.”

Tufts plays a crucial role in bringing cellular agriculture products to the market by serving as a thriving hub for research and networking in the industry. This role was further elevated in 2021 when the USDA selected Tufts as the home of the National Institute for Cellular Agriculture. This year, Cellular Agriculture Innovation Day will focus on addressing the challenges facing cellular agriculture, industry evolution in the context of the current political environment, and approaches to accelerate translation of research.

“Tufts is proud to call cellular agriculture one of our areas of research excellence, and the university has made strategic investments to support this important work and this event,” said Caroline Genco, Tufts University provost and senior vice president. “We are thrilled to once again convene the top leaders in the field to discuss the next steps in building cellular agriculture into a major industry.”
