Call For Proposals
The University Wide Teaching Conference committee is accepting proposals for the annual Teaching Conference being held at the Fletcher School in Medford. This year’s theme is: Motivation and Engagement in Teaching and Learning: We’re all in This Together.
Sharing experiences and interacting with peers can have far-reaching impacts on our teaching. As environments and techniques for teaching evolve more rapidly, faculty are challenged to think deeply about motivating and engaging students in learning. Many Tufts faculty have engaged in new evidence-based practices and discovered new ways of looking at both what they teach and how they teach.
The committee is soliciting Tufts faculty to share their best practices, teaching challenges that they have overcome, or new ideas for teaching and learning that motivate and engage students more deeply in their own learning.
Program Topics: Sessions are invited that relate to:
- Motivating Students in both required and elective courses
- Engaging students in dialogues on challenging topics
- Demonstrating processes for self-reflection for teachers and students
- Staying motivated and engaged in teaching
- Fostering Self-directed Learners
- Creating faculty, student and community partnerships for learning
Workshops are 60 or 75 minutes in length and should provide the opportunity for participants to actively engage in the material. Typically this means a short presentation of the topic (10-15 minutes) light on slides. Followed by an activity, sharing of ideas and materials and/or small or large groups discussions.
