OEA/CELT Teaching Scholars Program Tufts University teaching faculty are eligible to apply to participate in the OEA/CELT Teaching Scholars Program to be held at Tufts University School of Medicine Campus. Up to 12 teaching faculty members will be enrolled. The program will consist of four three-hour sessions. The topic areas of discussion will be learner-centered teaching, active learning, peer observation of teaching with collegial feedback, and participant’s own teaching practices.

CELT Faculty Book Discussion on Situations Matter by Sam Sommers Sam Sommers is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department here at Tufts. Situations Matter draws on behavioral science, popular culture, and humorous anecdote to explore the invisible forces influencing your life.  By understanding the powerful influence context has on our daily existence, we can rethink how we see the world and be more effective at work, at home, and in regular interactions with others. CELT Faculty Book Discussion on Why Students Don’t Like School by Dan Willingham In Why Students Don’t like School, Willingham maintains that every day, teachers and parents are operating on incorrect assumptions and an incomplete understanding of teaching and learning. He takes the most recent findings in neuroscience and cognitive psychology, and reframes best practices for student learning. Space is limited so please RSVP to celt@tufts.edu

Strategies for Publication in Journals and Online Repositories Participants will identify potential venues for publishing educational scholarship, as well as related guidelines, evaluation criteria, and strategies. Participants will also have an opportunity to share their potential publications ideas or work in progress with peers and receive feedback.
