Tufts Springboard Research and Scholarship

Tufts Springboard Research and Scholarship (R&S) is sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, and Tufts Medicine. Researchers can apply for funding up to $15,000-$50,000 to support research and scholarship across disciplines, along with tailored guidance to help move your project forward. Applications are due by October 15, 2025.

This funding cycle, special consideration will be given to projects focused on:

  • Research and/or scholarship projects that support Tufts University’s and Tufts Medicine’s priorities to address the expressed needs of our local and global communities in line with our commitments to inclusivity and collaboration with those most impacted by our work.
  • Research and/or scholarship that supports the goals of the Tufts Initiative for Substance Use and Addiction (TISUA).
  • Research and/or scholarship that expands or creates collaborations across Schools, Centers, or other units, and especially those that expand or create collaborations between investigators with a primary appointment at Tufts University and a primary appointment at Tufts Medicine

If applicants are already familiar with the structure of Springboard, they should note significant changes to this year’s funding cycle. Rather than the former tiered structure, the program now features designated awards including the Springboard Momentum Award, with a funding ceiling of $50,000, and the Springboard Explore Award, with a funding ceiling of $15,000.

Projects in the fields of STEM, biomedical research, or education are not eligible for MUSE funding and should be submitted to Tufts Springboard.
