Active Citizenship and Public Service Working Group

Guiding Questions:

  • What is active citizenship? What is public service? What is the difference between the two concepts and should Tufts emphasize both equally?
  • How do emphases on active citizenship and public service affect: (1) how, what, and who we teach; (2) the type of research and scholarship we conduct; and (3) how we reward faculty, students, and staff?
  • What more should we do to realize our active citizenship and public service goals? What are the constraints we face?
  • What should we stop doing, or start doing very differently, if we aim to achieve our active citizenship and public service goals?
