About the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty
Our Mission
Faculty are the vital core of Tufts, from leading cutting-edge research and innovation to fostering a supportive, welcoming, and collaborative learning environment for all members of the community. The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty (OVPF) works to create a sustainable, fully integrated matrix of support for faculty career development and to promote a culture of faculty success, collaboration, and well-being across all the schools of the university.
The OVPF aims to invigorate a scholarly community where faculty can thrive in all stages of their academic and professional careers by:
- Contributing to faculty growth through mentoring, leadership development, and professional support programming.
- Overseeing tenure and promotion cases, and streamlining and improving processes to ensure equitable promotions across schools.
- Working closely with schools and units to optimize resources, opportunities, and policies to create a centralized strategy.
- Helping faculty navigate life outside academia and promote work-life balance with robust benefits: housing, dual-career, and mental health and wellness support.
- Celebrating and recognizing faculty achievements.
- Appreciating faculty long after their time at Tufts with emeritus benefits and events.
