CELT Teaching Scholars 2026

Applications are now open!

The CELT Teaching Scholars seminar (formerly known as CELT Faculty Fellows) is a semester-long program where you will join a supportive, multi-disciplinary community of peers. Together, you will reflect on and reenergize your teaching as you develop experiential, inclusive, evidence-based, and student-centered teaching practices. This program is open to all Tufts faculty who are teaching, have recently taught, or are preparing to teach a course.

What You’ll Gain:

  • A supportive cohort of colleagues across Tufts
  • A renewed sense of purpose and identity as a teacher
  • Practical, inclusive teaching strategies grounded in the learning sciences
  • Tools for experiential learning
  • Tools for teaching in the age of AI
  • Perspectives from peers, students, and CELT staff through interactive feedback

Program Goals: By the end of the program, participants will

  1. Develop a set of inclusive student-centered instructional strategies that can be immediately applied in your teaching
  2. Reflect on your identity as a teacher, reconnect with your purpose, and strengthen your sense of connection to your students, your peers, and your teaching practice.
  3. Experience a supportive community of practice by collaborating with, and learning from, colleagues across the diversity of teaching contexts at Tufts.

Program Expectations*:

  • Engage in 10 seminar-style sessions across the semester (virtual and hybrid)
  • Prepare for each session by exploring topical materials such as readings and podcasts
  • Present a teaching demonstration to your peers followed by individual written reflection
  • Complete and submit a final action plan and reflection

Successful completion of all program components and attendance at all meetings earns you a certificate and small stipend.

The program meets on Friday mornings during Fall 2026.

Two in person meetings run from 9:30am-12:30pm on the Medford Campus

  • September 11th & December 11th 2026

During the 20 years that CELT has offered the Faculty Fellows Seminars, over 200 faculty have participated. CELT has offered this unique opportunity for Tufts faculty to increase their knowledge about student learning and to enhance their teaching skills. Because we recognize the commitment of time and energy required, participants receive a small stipend. We accept only a limited number of applicants each year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email celt@tufts.edu.

Past participants comments:

"I really valued hearing about teaching issues from faculty coming from such a wide range of teaching expertise, facing such different challenges, and from different departments and schools."

"I appreciated having a designated time to dedicate to my teaching. In the day to day, it is challenging to carve out the time to be truly thoughtful and reflective."

"I think it will help me step back and be more thoughtful about what more precisely I want the students to come away with and to build more thoughtful preparation of class questions and assessment tools than content."
