Michael Wiederman, Ph.D., Keynote Speaker, 2019 December Teaching Symposium
After working as a clinical psychology professor for 19 years, Michael Wiederman has served as the inaugural Director of Professional Development at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville since 2014. In this role he provides presentations, workshops, and individual coaching on various aspects of teaching and learning, leadership development, and emotional intelligence.
Dr. Wiederman has published more than 200 articles, chapters, and books, including the articles "Why It's So Hard to be Happy" and "Mortal Thoughts," both published in Scientific American Mind. His most recent books include Study Less, Learn More: The Complete Guide for Busy Students and Transcending the Personality Disordered Parent: Psychological and Spiritual Tactics.
Dr. Wiederman received his bachelor of science degree in clinical-community psychology from the University of Michigan Flint, and his master’s degree and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University. He completed his predoctoral internship and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita.
