Advanced CELT Scholars
This program is not currently accepting applications.
Advanced CELT Scholars for Authentic and Engaged Learning is an eleven-month program that meets monthly for 3-hour sessions. This program was created for faculty from across the university who completed the CELT Faculty Fellows or Equity and Inclusion Fellows programs and wanted to take a deeper dive into active and authentic teaching approaches. We focus on authentic learning, in particular, because it approaches teaching and learning from four critical perspectives:
1. Creating learning opportunities that have real-world relevance.
2. Ask learners to consider content or skill building from a variety of perspectives, which leads to critical and independent thinking and enhances problem-solving skills.
3. Requires reflection.
4. Emphasizes collaboration and learning within and among community.

At CELT, we are constantly asking questions about the direction of teaching and learning and the purpose of a liberal education. We assert that authentic and active learning approaches will help us teach an emerging generation of human beings who will not just take their place within a given discipline or professional field, but as citizens who engage with and actively participate in democracy.
