Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Nancy Wilson has agreed to serve as Interim Dean of the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service, effective July 1st. As Director and Associate Dean, Nancy has worked closely with Dean Rob Hollister over the last seven years, and is superbly positioned to lead Tisch College during the transition. Her deep commitment to the mission of Tisch College and her extensive experience working with non-profits and for profit businesses around the globe will help ensure that our student, faculty, and community programs for civic engagement are sustained in the coming year.
During her time at Tufts, Nancy has played a central role in managing the programmatic and operational aspects of Tisch College, helping it to become an integral part of the Tufts landscape, an important strategic partner with our schools, and a national model for university civic engagement. She has served as Project Director for community service and action research projects, working across multiple departments, disciplines, and communities. She has also contributed to the advancement of Tisch College’s academic goals by teaching an undergraduate course on innovative social enterprises, and has co-authored several papers on civic engagement in higher education.
Before joining Tisch College in 2004, Nancy worked in Johannesburg, South Africa as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers Management Consulting. Her previous experience included more than ten years working on behalf of non-profit and foundation initiatives focused on social and economic development efforts in eastern and southern Africa.
The process to find a new dean will resume once President-elect Monaco and the next provost have had a chance to consider together the opportunity to appoint a new leader of this unique institution at Tufts. In the meanwhile, Nancy will continue to work with the Tisch College faculty and staff to keep its programs vibrant and innovative.
