My Tufts Story Video Contest
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Videos must be submitted by 11:59PM on Sunday, April 26th, 2020.
Tufts University strives to foster a learning environment for students to personalize their education around their passions and interests throughout their time at the University. The Office of the Provost recognizes students’ broad range of paths and integrated learning experiences, and would like to highlight how students have shaped their Tufts experience around their interests and passions.
Are you passionate about health and wellness of all people - including public health at this time of global pandemic -, the sustainability of the planet, affordable and renewable energy, access to food and clean water, improved nutrition and sustainable agriculture, safety and peace, reduced poverty and inequalities, economic growth, access to quality education, enhanced quality of life or other personal interests?
Are you designing your curriculum and extra-curricular experiences according to your interests and passions; collaborating with peers within and outside of your major or program; pursuing a research project or thesis; participating in a student club; learning how to become an entrepreneur or creating a business; exploring the real world as an intern or a resident physician; studying abroad or serving the community; competing as a student athlete or playing club or intramural sports?

This contest is open to all currently enrolled Tufts students. This includes undergraduate, graduate (Master and PhD), and professional students. Entries should showcase your personal interests and how you are designing/have designed a personalized educational experience, both inside and outside of the classroom, to fulfill your learning aspirations around your interests and passions.
Videos will be evaluated by a panel of Tufts students, staff, and faculty members, and there will be two top prize winners each awarded $1,000, as well as additional winners and honorable mentions. Submitted videos or clips of videos may be featured on the Tufts website, social media channels, and other digital advertisements.
Grand Prize-General Category
One grand prize winner will be awarded $1,000 for their overall ability to embody the spirit of the contest. The review panel will focus on reviewing how well each video articulated both your academic and extracurricular pursuits and how you have been able to craft yourTufts experience around your passions and interests.
Grand Prize-COVID-19 Category
In light of the challenges created by COVID-19, an additional grand prize winner will be awarded $1,000 for your ability to embody the spirit of the contest within the context of COVID-19. To be considered for this prize, entries should discuss one or more of the following themes:
- How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted your Tufts experience?
- How have you altered your plans to continue your academic and extracurricular pursuits around your passions despite the challenges brought by the pandemic?
- What have your learned about yourself, your peers, or your community through this pandemic?
- How will this period impact you even after the pandemic is over and have you reflected on how your Tufts education can better prepare you to fight the current pandemic or a similar challenge in the future?
- What steps have you taken to better understand, engage with, or help with the pandemic?
All videos must be submitted by 11:59PM on Sunday, April 26th, 2020. Multiple entries are allowed.
- All videos should be 2 minutes or less.
- Videos may be uploaded to YouTube (or other streaming platforms), or uploaded along with a completed application via Qualtrics.
- Please ensure that there is clear audio and that the video quality is high resolution.
- Videos should be oriented horizontally.
- All videos must be original entries created by you..
- Entries can showcase short stories, photos, a poster, a song, artwork, dance, or other art forms as long as the final submission is in the form of a video.
- Multiple people or groups may collaborate on videos.
- Multiple entries are allowed.
Submissions will be evaluated based on their ability to encompass and integrate the following experiences related to your interests and passions:
- Research/Scholarly Project, Study or Paper
- Real World Experience (internship, residency, practicum)
- Multicultural Experience (international experience, diversity and inclusion, leadership)
- Civic Engagement
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Interdisciplinary and Inter-professional Study, Project, and/or Experience
In addition, we would like to hear what you are doing related to:
- Wellness and Well-Being (intellectual, emotional, physical, social)
