Tufts University is a member of The Leadership Alliance, an academic consortium of thirty-two colleges and universities. The alliance helps students from underrepresented groups develop into leaders in the fields of academia, business, and the public sector. The work of the Alliance includes the following:
The Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) offers undergraduates interested in pursuing a PhD or MD/PhD the opportunity to work for eight to ten weeks under the guidance of a faculty or research mentor at a participating Alliance institution. Additionally, the Mellon Initiative provides summer research opportunities for Humanities and Social Science students. Over the next three years, the grant will fund groups of four to six students at nine different Alliance campuses. These universities and colleges are Tufts, Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, the University of Virginia, and the University of Chicago.
An annual two-day National Symposium which includes graduates and undergraduates from the participating colleges and universities, networking receptions by discipline, poster and oral presentations, a gala celebration dance, and an alumni career panel.
